Our district’s goal is to build a strong community through inspiration, innovation, and excellence, preparing our students to be college, career and life ready by the time they graduate from high school.

In order to achieve that goal, we has developed a strong School Improvement Plan tailored to meet the needs of our school community. This plan is in line with the district to ensure the students at West Middle School have the skills needed to successfully enter high school.

 

Goal 1: ELA
A)The percentage of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students at West Middle School scoring proficient or higher in English Language Arts will increase from 40% to 50% (6th grade), from 45% to 60% (7th grade) , and 56% to 60% (8th Grade) by the end of the 2023 school year as measured by SBAC test.

B) At a minimum 60% of WMS students will meet their projected RIT score measured by the end of the year MAP Reading assessment. 

Goal 2: MATH
  • The percentage of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students at West Middle School scoring proficient or higher in Math will increase from 30% to 50% (6th grade), from 39% to 50% (7th grade), and 43% to 50% (8th Grade) by the end of the 2023 school year as measured by SBAC test. 
  • At a minimum 60% of WMS students will meet their projected RIT score measured by the end of the year MAP  Math assessment.
Goal 3: 
Behavior Strategy

West Middle School will strengthen the learning culture by the end of the 2023-24 school year

Behavior- By the end of the first two weeks of the school year (September 1st), all students will score a 90% or above on an assessment of school rules and procedures. 

Attendance Rate- Average daily attendance will increase from 93% to 95%
