WEST MIDDLE SCHOOL
NEWSCLIPS FOR MAY 2026
HONOR / AWARDS ASSEMBLY
Each spring, we hold an awards ceremony for each grade level to honor students
who have excelled. Our 2025-2026 Awards Assembly will be held Thursday, May 14, 2026, in the cafeteria. The sixth-grade program will be held at 8:20 – 9:00 a.m., seventh grade will be held at 9:15 – 9:55 a.m., and eighth grade will be held at 10:10– 11:00 a.m.
The awards given include Star, Students of the Month, Leaders of the Pack, Students of Achievement, Mathcounts, Gutzon Borglum, American Legion, and Dr. Pev Evans Scholarship.
If your student has a 3.5 grade point average, or better, or has been nominated for one of the awards, you will be notified by mail. If your child is nominated for one of these awards, be very proud. Remember that we have nearly 600 students; although many of them are outstanding, only a few will be given an actual award. We are proud of all our West Middle School students, and we consider everyone a “winner”.
EARLY OUT FORMS…Forms are available in the office for any parents who may require their student to be dismissed earlier than the last day of school. Please keep in mind the Twenty-Day-Absence School Policy if planning for an earlier release/absence of your student.

We want to acknowledge and thank the PAWS’s officers and the members who have organized and carried through with several special functions and projects for us during this school year. Thank you to all others who have donated time during the year—you are all important to us! The staff treats each month have also been wonderful, as well as the Conference dinners—thank you to the families who supplied those! You are the best!
Hello WMS Families!
If your student has any medications in the office, please stop by to pick those up by May 2oth. Medications that are not picked up will be properly disposed of.
