Hi, West Middle School families! I’m Nicholes Wiest, your school’s Lifeways Counselor. My goal this year is to help support and encourage families by providing monthly education and tips for building healthy relationships. Many small talks are more effective than one lengthy conversation. Small conversations make a big impression. Check out this month’s flyer! If you have any questions or feel your child would benefit from Lifeways services, don't hesitate to get in touch with me at West Middle School, 605-394-4033.

Parent teacher conferences are Thursday, October 16th from 4:00pm to 7:30pm. This is a great time to meet your students' teachers, see what they have been doing in class, and answer any questions you may have.

Recently, students in Mr. Mazour's STEAM class worked on a Healthy Habits Social Media Campaign. Along with other aspects, students were tasked with creating a social media post that brought awareness to a wellness topic. Though all of the projects turned out amazing, these were the top 3 that received the most votes!

Good afternoon, WMS families! Picture day is next Tuesday, September 16th. Students received a picture packet with instructions on how to order photos in their social studies classes. Additionally, we will be mailing home family reports for our fall Map Growth Assessments that students completed in their math and ELA/reading classes, so please watch for those!

We’re proud to recognize and celebrate the incredible number of students who achieved zero tardies for the entire school year!!
These students demonstrated outstanding responsibility, punctuality, and commitment to their education. Thank you for setting a great example for our school community! Each student received a one-of-a-kind laser-engraved keychain to help commemorate the achievement!💙

WMS Pride Alert!
Check out this photo from this morning! It features 14 staff members who all attended West Middle School as students!
Front row: Mrs. Peterson, Mrs. Wytosick, and Mrs. Curry
Back row: Mr. Cerny, Mrs. Welch, Mr. McNabb, Mr. Sesso, Mr. Hines, Mrs. Stonecipher, Mrs. Ruthford, Mrs. Young, Mrs. Schumacher, Mr. Karn, and Mr. Miessner.
That's right, they loved WMS so much, they came back to make a difference in the next generation. That says everything about the kind of school West truly is. West Middle School is more than just a school. It’s a community, a family, and one incredible place to learn and work!

Our Lifeways counselor, Nick Wiest, has compiled this informational flyer for parents and guardians to use during the upcoming summer months. Nick has been an incredible addition to West this year, and his passion for helping students is evident. Scarecrow making at Valley View Elementary! Ms. Macziewski's Jr. Kindergarten class teamed up with a fourth-grade class to assemble some great fall scarecrows. The older students helped the younger ones with the project, and everyone worked together to get it done. 🍂

Congratulations to Ms. Moen a kindergarten teacher at Rapid Valley Elementary for winning the 1 Plus 1 Giveaway from NewsCenter1 Media Group! ⭐️🎉
